Backyard Biome Mat »
With the Backyard Biome Grammar mat, children use cards color-coded to the parts of speech to label things and places, then describe them with adjectives and introduce them with articles. Verbs, prepositions, adverbs, and conjunctions follow to make exciting sentences to be symbolized. Words are chosen to relate to the aspect of the biome curriculum illustrated on the mat. The Backyard Biome Mat integrates the concepts introduced in the World According to Biomes: an Introductory Curriculum. It includes red arrows to place and show how energy moves through the biome, a lesson outline, paper grammar cards, and a wooden box with dividers for the cards.

Biosphere Nesting Boxes »
The biosphere nesting box illustrates the "systems thinking" approach of how life is structured and connected. The galaxy, the solar system, the biosphere, it's biomes, ecosystems, populations of plants and animals, individuals and their tissues, organs, cells and atoms.
This material is recommended for elementary aged children to give them a sense of how the concept of a biome connects with the whole from the universe to the atom. 10 nesting boxes come with wooden labels to match to each box.
